"ArbAus"

A quick note on shortening the name 'Arboriculture Australia' in everyday communication. Using the contraction "ArbAus" is preferred, as opposed to "AA", as it is used by the Arboricultural Association.

Dear Station Members,

Above information gives the 2016 International Conference & ATCC Championship to be held in Melbourne, Australia.  This is a worthwhile & quality event, & CAA would encourage our members to go.

The international conference this time is running in collaboration with the University of Melbourne.  Many well known speakers from all over the world will be there to provide the latest research.  A lot of education sessions are relevant to our work & practices.  Arborists wanting to learn & advance themselves in the profession should come & join.

Besides networking & education, there is the exciting Tree Climbing Competition in the conference to show the latest skills & techniques of the industry.  Australia has produced many international champions in tree climbing in the past.  Their knowledge & skills will benefit our members in our daily work.

Australia is close to the China Region, not as expensive to fly to when compared with Europe or America, best of all Australia has little jetlag of approximately 1-3 hours to our place.  The lowest return air ticket from HK at present is selling at around HK4,500 with one stop in an Asian country.  The current exchange rate is also favourable at around AUD 1 = HKD 5.6 .  There is the incentive to go.

Say some of us are complaining that they have no time & money to go for an international conference.  However, a lot of the same people can be seen showing their tourist photos with cheering comments in Japan or European countries.  Do they really have no time & money to go overseas?  What would a pleasure trip bring them in terms of knowledge & advancement as a professional?  Can arboricultural practices be learned in a shopping mall or hot spring?

CAA will send representative(s) to attend the 2016 Melbourne Conference to show our support.  Anyone who is interested to come along may contact us.  We can show you the way to get tickets, local transport & others.

Hoping to see you the lucky ones in Melbourne next February.

best regards,

Sammy Au
