久違了!  香港各行各業在武漢肺炎的影響下，可謂弄得體無完膚。  樹藝行業也不例外，整體來說差不多處於半停工狀態，從業員之間苦不堪言。

 

但在這困難時期，倒有一批行內資深從業員，巧妙善用其空檔時間，精心策劃成立了可算是全球第一個的樹藝從業員專業組織，名叫 “香港註冊樹藝師公會” ，簡稱 HKIRA。

 

此會只走專業路線，會籍也是貴精不貴多，會員制度仿效其他香港傳統專業學會，例如工程師學會之類，要求樹藝師會員擁有最少本科大學學位或以上學歷、最少五年相關工作經驗、同時持有 ‘持續學分’ 類別的樹藝證照、用4000字英語寫出行業經驗去表達寫作能力、和通過全英語面試等等，去確定申請人真正能夠達到香港社會普遍要求的專業水平。

 

由於新組織剛剛成立，加上目前疫情嚴重，故其內部結構尚在準備當中，所以尚未開始招收會員。  相信新組織的會員將會大部分來自 CAA，新組織也會變相成為 CAA 的 ‘專業加強版’ ，所以 CAA 會為新組織提供能力所及的幫助。

 

有人會問，香港政府會馬上承認這個新組織嗎？ 

 

試想一下，假如閣下是掌管某政府部門，見到有新組織成立就馬上跑去承認，這會符合邏輯和程序嗎？  正當做法難道不會是先把新組織觀察一段時間，看看其承諾和表現如何，然後再作承認？  樹木辦 裡面 

Tree Inspector 所承認的證照，也不是這樣子的嘛？  HKIRA 會在合適時間向香港政府提出承認要求，更會與其他地方進行互認。

 

如果是這樣，有人會再問，為何又會有人想要加入這新組織？ 

 

答案很簡單，是為了證明自己，已經達到了香港專業團體普遍認可的專業水平，能夠加入將會是一種個人榮譽!  試看全球八面四方，哪裡還有一個樹藝組織，要求會員必須擁有本科學位或以上學歷 + 最少五年從業經驗 + 4,000字的英語申請入會寫作 + 全英語的專業面試？  能夠完全通過這些關口，閣下還會不感覺到自己是與眾不同，鶴立雞群嗎？

 

HKIRA 的籌備委員會 (

已有六人) 已經表明，新組織的成員是貴精不貴多，達不到要求的一律不作考慮，務必保持組織的專業性不會變質，管他會員人數會是多少。  HKIRA 未來的營運開支也會模仿 CAA 的模式，就是幾乎不用花錢，準備可以長期操作存在。

It is our pleasure to announce on behalf of Hong Kong Institute of Registered Arborists (HKIRA) that this organization has already been granted registration with the HK Govt in May 2020.  More information of it can be found in the following link:

由於 CAA 擁有9,000+名會員，和在中國地區是最大最有歷史的首個樹藝組織，兼且這次並不是那個什麼 ‘園藝/樹藝資歷架構’ 諮詢，所以本會決定配合調查。  園藝行業好比獸醫，而樹藝行業有如人醫，在西方國家從來都是分開處理，就好像醫生和獸醫要分開註冊一樣，不會混成一體。  香港過去為了方便，把景觀、園藝和樹藝統統連成一起，分工混亂，往往由外行來領導內行，導致行內怨氣沖天，並非好事。

 

本會認為成立註冊制度是件好事，也認為應該由政府部門來進行執行，而並非交給民間團體負責。  過去經驗指出，民間團體往往為了自身利益，有可能會處事不公，也由於所獲利益不多，辦事效率往往低下，不理不睬又投訴無門，結果增加行業怨言，什至激起傳媒指責，並非好事。

 

為了令樹藝行業能夠真正踏上專業化之路，本會與部分合資格的資深行內從業員，正進行在香港成立另一新樹藝組織，其成員必須持有樹藝學學位和擁有數年執業經驗，通過面試，方可被考慮成為註冊會員，做法與其他的香港專業團體相似。  目前這新組織的會章架構正在討論準備之中，歡迎持有樹藝學位的會員提供意見，其部分詳情可以在以下連結看到：

颱風對東亞沿海城市樹木，雖然經常造成巨大破壞，但國際上在這方面的研究，卻是寥寥可數。  反觀樹藝學當中精髓，往往在於都市樹木的生物學和風力結構學。  這兩個範疇，會嚴重影響著樹木保育和樹木風險評估，也不能靠考選擇題，就可以全面掌握。  有見及此，本會一直在努力搜集這方面的資訊和舉辦講座，來提高會員們的專業水平。

 

以下講座是講者花了一年努力研究的技術成果，據聞已有英國大學要求選取這項研究，在海外學術期刋公開發表，目前正在排期。

 

這次的講座內容，達到了英國樹藝學碩士論文的水平，光是涉及分析數據用的電腦程式已達40頁，複雜程度可算比唸電腦程式大學學位還高。  當中量度樹幹搖擺數據所採用的廉價 Compact Accelerometers (不是昂貴的 Tree  Motion Sensor) ，可能是全亞洲用作樹木風力研究的第一次。  講座內容涉及學術程度之高，是本會歷來舉辦技術講座的第一次。  樹藝是一門科學，講求研究和理據，並非追求視覺和感觀，與學習景觀美學的行業完全不同，也沒有多大相關。

 

是次講座也會介紹樹藝研究在國際上的要求和水平，可以給有興趣報讀海外樹藝學位的會員們一次交流機會，讓他們窺探報讀樹藝學位究竟需要什麼條件，從而自我評估是否合適。  目前在香港取得海外樹藝學士/碩士的人數已經超過50人，很多都是公務員。  如果取得的是由英國大學發出的樹藝學位，英聯邦、歐盟和美洲國家普遍承認。  行業的發展需要人才，不能只停留在考選擇題的初級階段，這是大勢所趨。 要成為樹藝專業人員，擁有樹藝學歷 (並非林業、園藝、景觀等等) 和專業資格在所難免，這也是國際傳統。

CAA is proud to present our 58th session of arboricultural education to benefit our members.  This time it is on ‘Tree motion in typhoons’ to correspond to the tree damage by typhoons in Hong Kong in 2018.

 

This seminar will be the most technical so far in all CAA seminars with academic contents reaching MSc in Arboriculture level.  The focus of the seminar will be on the experimental design & the deployment of compact accelerometers to measure tree motion in extreme wind gusts.  An introduction will be given on the data processing tool of the R statistical analysis method which will be rather new to the China Region.

 

Anyone who is interested to take up a degree in Arboriculture is invited to come to learn about the requirements in such a program, & evaluate your personal abilities to match.  AS more & more arborists in Hong Kong are graduating with a BSc in Arboriculture, the future trend is likely to require such a qualification in tree assessment & tree work locally

久違了!  在這個豬年新的開始，本會祝願各位健康進步，心想事成!

 

自去年九月颱風 ‘山竹’ 過後，本會所有執委都忙於處理突如其來排山倒海的工作，當中歐會長從九月中旬到十二月中旬沒有一天休息過，週一到週六主要處理公家工程，週日就照顧私人工程，夾雜當中還有傳媒專訪和自身學習，可謂忙得不可交關。

 

目前歐會長的各項工程已經排到本年四月底，準備年中在國外發表的 ‘強颱風中樹木搖動表現’ 論文也進行得如火如荼，故此本來打算在去年十一月開始的 ‘Applied Tree Biology’ 系列講座，不得不被推遲到本年年中後才能進行，不便之處，敬請會員們包涵見諒。

 

順道一提，歐會長目前進行的研究，主要利用Accelerometer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerometer) 去收集數據，然後用非常先進的Data Processing程式 ‘R’ (https://www.rstudio.com/) 去計算每次收集的19,2000條信息，再利用非常複雜的工程系列計算方法和電腦程式，得出多個樹木在颱風當中搖擺的圖例。  這可能是東亞地區有人首次作出如此嘗試，所以國外學會有興趣研究可否公開發表。

 

為了工作和研究，歐會長推掉了很多邀請和會議，但由於他也是香港職業安全局 (OSHC) 的樹藝學導師，所以答應了在本年3月6日晚上主講一次 ‘樹藝工作安全健康公開講座’, 詳情如下：

Dear Station Members,

 

CAA is proud to present our 57th session of arboricultural education to benefit our members.  This time it is on ‘Tree Work Safety after Typhoon Mangkhut’ in conjunction with the Occupational Safety & Health Council of Hong Kong to support their public educational programs .

 

There have been quite a number of tree work accidents in Hong Kong after Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018.  It appears that a lot of them happened to amateur tree workers & volunteers who did not follow proper arboricultural practices.  This trend is reviving currently in Hong Kong due to the high demand for tree work after the devastating typhoon.  CAA expects the trend to continue to at least half of 2019.

 

In Session 57, the details are as follows:

 

 

Title:   “OSHC Safety after Typhoon Mangkhut”

Language:  Power point in Chinese, with mixed narration in Cantonese & English to benefit the non-English speaking practitioners, video will be in English

有鑑香港的 樹木辦 可能會在幾個月內，滲入層面更廣、權力更大的 ‘城市林務辦’  功能，為了配合其可能轉變，本會固意在本期講座裡，安排一次介紹 ‘城市林務學’ 簡介，探討這究竟涉及些什麼，由誰來做，和這新興行業與樹藝行業的關係等等，向對這方面有興趣的人仕，作出客觀交待。

 

為了方便本地區只講中文的參加者，特別是從事攀樹工作的會員們，這次講座破天荒的使用中文簡體字寫出，部分取材於本會在今年山東全國性園林綠化行業會議的演講內容，再融入本會在馬來西亞國家規劃師年會裡演講的精華，交匯演繹。  這講座內容也會在中國大陸，和東南亞華人社區日後使用。

 

很多人以為 ‘城市林務學’ 只不過是樹藝學的一部分，和樹藝師可以隨時變身成為 ‘城市林務師’ 這種錯誤觀念，殊不知兩者之間存在巨大分別。  坊間有人吹噓 ‘城市林務學’ 只涉及樹木勘察，然後進行風險管理那麼簡單，事實又是否如此？

CAA is proud to present our 56th session of arboricultural education to benefit our members.  This time it is on ‘Urban Forestry – a brief note’ to correspond to the possible addition of urban forestry in the Tree Management Office of HK in the coming months.  This seminar would be of interest to anyone who is considering to enter into the urban forestry practices.

 

In China Region in the past 10 years, the profession of arborists have appeared but hardly any trained urban foresters.  Some even think the two professions are the same, or landscape personnel can become an urban forester.  Some arborists would regard urban forestry as just a branch of arboriculture.  There are indeed a lot of misconceptions in the industry on what urban forestry is all about at present.  Therefore CAA would like to deliver a seminar on this topic with international experience & practices to spell out the facts & myths.

本會近月已經與 樹木辦 新領導層修補關係，我們認為這是順應潮流，和對本行業在香港發展是有利有益。  本會從來不為利益去出賣原則，也未曾做過，這是眾所皆知的事實。

 

‘現代樹藝學’ 已經進入最後一課了。  在這課，作者將會為提出過的三百多頁樹藝知識來作一個總結，闡釋出一套至今還在使用的樹木能量理論，用其來解釋樹木在生長、維護、防禦等等的生理機能，這些知識都對樹藝從業員的日常工作實用有利。

 

第 17 課的內容，涉及樹木能量對樹木生理的影響，範圍包括Allelopathy, Diagnose & Treatment & Assess, Arborist reporting method, Collections & connections, the Seesaw & Life, etc. 等等，全部都是樹藝實務上需要知道的知識。  文中描述的樹木能量部分，正是日常檢測樹木健康和潛在風險的拙要手法，非常有益實用。  在本課演講完畢後，如果時間許可，本課將會繼續播放尚有一大截沒時間播出的 Dr. Shigo 的 ‘真人騷’ 影片，讓參加者繼續聽他本人的現身說法。

CAA is proud to present our 55th session of Arboricultural Education to benefit our members.  It is on the textbook teaching of Dr. Alex Shigo on ‘Modern Arboriculture – Touch Trees’ Session 17.   This will be run in a series of 16 – 18 sessions, depending on progress.

 

“Modern Arboriculture’ Session 17  will be on Allelopathy, Diagnose & Treatment & Assess, Arborist reporting method, Collections & connections, the Seesaw & Life,etc.  ‘Modern Arboriculture’ is not all about CODIT.  In fact, CODIT would occupy less than 5 % of the total contents.  The rest would be on everything from Wood Anatomy to Tree Biochemistry.

 

It is recommended that the attendees will bring along their own copy of " Modern Arboriculture - Touch Tree" as their textbook to the lecture.  This book can be obtained at ISA & other online sources.

‘現代樹藝學’ 到目前為止，相信只剩下兩課左右就可以完成。  這十多課的知識相當實用，也解釋了為何各類牌照都涉及本課程知識，二十年來由這課本也引發出過不少研究。  到現在已經有不少會員購買了這本書，但是又有多少人能看懂箇中理論，把其分拆溶合，在日常工作當中發揮作用？  

 

‘現代樹藝學’ 課本是需要解讀，當中的口語化闡述，需要用正規簡單文字重新演繹，過期的知識也需要新近研究來補充，這也是本會舉辦這課程的價值所在。

 

 第 16 課的內容涉及樹木固定和附生植物對樹木生長的影響，範圍包括washers & cables, cabling & rots, cabling accessories, cabling types & positions, bracing & rods, climbers on trees, etc. 等等，全部都是樹藝實務上需要知道的知識。  合成拉纜在這書出版的時候還未面世，本課也會加以補充。  由於本課演講內容較短，本課將會加長播放 Dr. Shigo 的 ‘真人騷’ 影片，讓參加者得益。

 

在這次課程中，本會將會派發由 ‘香港資歷架構秘書處’ 送來的‘2018學習體驗獎勵計劃’申請資料，是次計劃最高獎學金三萬港元，共有三個名額，任何居住香港的本行業人員，不限年齡學歷都可以參加，詳情將在本課小休時間派出。

‘現代樹藝學’ 的傳授已經開始進入倒數階段，在這個冗長但又与執業息息相關的知識傳授過程當中，參加者都獲得在 ‘證照’ 以外的實用知識，相信也會終身受用。  與此同時，本會亦在計劃下部教學，慕求精益求精，不會翻炒冷飯。

 

 第 15 課的內容以樹木風力學和修剪為主，這方面也是本地區樹藝從業員較為脆弱無知的一環，範圍包括 wind loading on trunk & branches, branch failures, branch fractures & pull out, topping & sprouting, construction injuries, lightning injuries, etc. 等等，全部都是樹藝實務上需要知道的知識。

CAA is proud to present our 53rd session of Arboricultural Education to benefit our members.  It is on the textbook teaching of Dr. Alex Shigo on ‘Modern Arboriculture – Touch Trees’ Session 15.   This will be run in a series of 16 – 18 sessions, depending on progress.

 

“Modern Arboriculture’ Session 15  will be on wind loading on trunk & branches, branch failures, branch fractures & pull out, topping & sprouting, construction injuries, lightning injuries, etc.  ‘Modern Arboriculture’ is not all about CODIT.  In fact, CODIT would occupy less than 5 % of the total contents.  The rest would be on everything from Wood Anatomy to Tree Biochemistry.

 

It is recommended that the attendees will bring along their own copy of " Modern Arboriculture - Touch Tree" as their textbook to the lecture.  This book can be obtained at ISA & other online sources.

正如上期會訊所述，本會將會聯同香港物業管理師學會 (http://www.hkcpm.org.hk/) 和香港商業專科學校 (http://www.hksc.edu.hk/new/tc/index.php) ，在2018年3月3日開始，舉辦全亞洲首次的 ‘工程及物業管理人員涉樹訓練基本樹木管理知識’ 中文課程，詳情可以在以下連結取得：

由於香港物業管理師學會在兩岸四地有近萬名會員，日後這課程也可能會在香港以外地區舉辦，廣傳有用知識。

 

當今香港無論在工程開拓和物業管理，涉及處理樹木的機會眾多，目前坊間訓練大多以炒賣樹藝證照為主要目的，不去照顧社會實質需要，本課程就是在這種現實環境之下洐生出來，希望真正能夠為社會辦點實事。

 

這課程的最大特色，是教導學員如何應對政府部門和民間日益增多的樹木投訴、如何選擇和監督聘用樹藝人員 (樹藝士/師和樹上工作者) ，和掌握基本足夠的樹木管理知識去進行工作。

 

本課程導師們都是香港第一代資深樹藝師，普遍擁有碩士/學士資歷和專業證照，全部都是正在執業，和差不多都是企業老闆。  如此鑽石陣容，有如香港 ‘十大富豪’  出來傳授 ‘發財秘笈’ ，實屬少見。

 

為了保證教學素質，每班招員限定在25人以下，每個月也只開一班，因為本會教班不是為了錢，也要考慮到導師們的時間空檔。

 

據行內了解，香港現存已有超過兩千名各式各樣的樹藝從業員了，又以 ‘選擇題樹藝士/師’ 和 ‘本地訓練人員’  (http://www.chinaarbor.com/caa-professionals-a-comparison-of-hk-local-tree-management-courses-with-international-%E9%A6%99%E6%B8%AF%E6%9C%AC%E5%9C%9F%E7%9A%84%E6%89%80%E8%AC%82-%E6%A8%B9%E6%9C%A8%E7%AE%A1/ ) 佔大多數。  這些人當中質素參差，良莠不齊，工程招標又規定價低者得，令工作進展往往顯得困難重重，加上香港在樹藝行業又缺乏監管，從而投訴無門，令人沮喪。

 

本課程藉著傳授管理樹木的基本知識，加上操控和管理樹藝從業員在工作表現上的某些技巧，從而達到監管者的角色。  這課程希望在提高用戶對樹木管理知識之餘，也同時促進樹藝行業的健康發展，令行業去蕪存菁，精益求精。

 

CEU方面，本課程是可以申請CEU的，但必須由學員在拿到英文版本的修業證書後，連同由本會另外提供的英文版本Course contents一起，自行到相關組織自我申請，本會不能代為辦理。

Please kindly note that the course will be conducted in Chinese language & the lecture notes will also be in Chinese.

 

This course aims to help engineering & property management personnel to gain basic knowledge in tree biology, tree ID, pruning, tree climbing, chainsaw safety, tree risk assessment & many others.  It is the only course of this kind in Chinese language in Asia.

在過去的個多月來，本會一直活躍在傳媒和東南亞地區之間，很多活動都可以在Facebook的戶口裡看到(https://www.facebook.com/chinaarbor)。  本會感覺在改名以後，與社會的各方互動，比以前掛靠在洋人組織以下大為增加，證明自力更新能有好處，亦擺脫了傳統華人思想的 ‘必須叩拜洋人組織底下才能生存’ 的陋習，令人鼓舞。

 

除了延續 ‘現代樹藝學’ 的有用教育以外，本會亦計劃在2018年的3月份，与 ‘香港物業管理師學會’ 和另一商業機構，共同推出一個 ‘如何監管樹藝師和樹藝從業員’ 的15小時理論和實習證書課程，主要針對建築工程和物業管理人員的涉樹對策，和如何招聘和監督樹藝師和樹藝從業員在其旗下工作，是大中華地區首次舉辦這類實用課程，對行外人仕絕對有用有益，詳情會在1月份後公佈。

 

歐會長在涉樹工程時候，經常會接觸到其他參與工作的樹藝士/師。  很多時候這些人的知識水平只能停留在 ‘考試題目’ 裡面，靠的只是手持 ‘證照’ 來力數對方外行，什至乎大派個人意見而並非道出科學研究基礎，令聘用方往往口服心不服，充滿懸疑。  長此下去，這種作風只會對樹藝行業的健康發展不利，亦令社會對各類樹藝 ‘證照’ 同時產生疑問，一竹槓打了一船人，殊不公平。

 

 第 14 課的內容以都市樹木種植情況為主，這方面也是本地區樹藝從業員較為辣手常見的一環，範圍包括 trees & park design, cluster planting, rotation planting, planting problems, deep planting & associated problems, soil compaction, palm planting & pruning, etc. 等等，全部都是樹藝實務上需要知道的知識。

缺席罰則:  任何人在發給留位號碼後, 不作予早通知和不到場簽到者，將被罰不能參加下次講座，以示公允。  本分會將會保留簽到表以作下回檢視。

 

CEU:  是次講座，CA/CTW/BCMA/MA/RCA 將會申請 2 個 CEU。  簽 CEU 者必須清楚填上自我牌照號碼在 CEU 簽到表上面，否則無效。

CAA is proud to present our 52nd session of Arboricultural Education to benefit our members.  It is on the textbook teaching of Dr. Alex Shigo on ‘Modern Arboriculture – Touch Trees’ Session 14.   This will be run in a series of 12 – 18 sessions, depending on progress.

 

“Modern Arboriculture’ Session 14 will be on trees & park design, cluster planting, rotation planting, planting problems, deep planting & associated problems, soil compaction, palm planting & pruning,  etc.  ‘Modern Arboriculture’ is not all about CODIT.  In fact, CODIT would occupy less than 5 % of the total contents.  The rest would be on everything from Wood Anatomy to Tree Biochemistry.

 

It is recommended that the attendees will bring along their own copy of " Modern Arboriculture - Touch Tree" as their textbook to the lecture.  This book can be obtained at ISA & other online sources.
